The Society has invited Roslyn Rose, the winner of the 2008 Exhibition's Best-In-Show Award, to lead a workshop in the art of Assemblage.

Ceres Gallery, 547 W. 27th Street, New York City, is presenting a solo exhibition of Photographic Montages by Roslyn Rose entitled, “Past Tense” from February 26 through March 22. There will be two receptions to meet the artist: Saturday, March 1, 2 to 5 pm and Thursday, March 6, 6 to 8 pm.
Old photographs can inspire real or imagined recollections of the past. Roslyn Rose is aware that memories may be an illusion, but finding an old photograph of three people in a ‘used books’ store started her quest to interpret the personal reminiscences a photograph can suggest and resulted in her series, “Past Tense.”
She asked friends and relatives to allow her to copy their favorite old photos. Each picture suggested a story from the past, but Ms. Rose choose to reinvent another context for each scenario.
